Snow day

The veg garden yesterday morning. It has not stopped snowing since 10pm Thursday evening & the blinking stuff is still coming down now.

The front garden before Harry got his mitts on it & built Jim?? Jim is now covered by fresh snow
Jim

If all this snow & cold weather isn't going to help cull the slug population I don't know what will.
My lovely Blackbirds on the hunt for food. They have been well catered for along with the smaller birds. On my return from work yesterday evening Mike wished he had a camera to hand. As I climbed out of the car I stood in one place & exclaimed "I cant walk any further, I cant see my Tulips"! The blinking snow had covered them.

Enjoy your day

  1. "Lovely Blackbirds"? Lovely?? I hate them. They dig up all my seedlings, and kick my compost and mulch all over the garden! (Not to mention having a really annoying call when they feel endangered...)

  2. We have snow this morning not much so far, fingers crossed it does not get as bad as yours. My birds are doing well, I begged some suet from the butcher and made a stack of fat balls for them, I put out leafy veg stalks and wrinkled apples, and make sure there is water.

    1. I don't think I have ever seen this much snow. It very rarely snows here. I always put apples out for the birds, they also like pears & grapes.

  3. Snow here too, and it's still coming down. The birds are still out and about though, they know where to come when they need a good meal, my feeders are always well filled. It's definitely an armchair gardening sort of weekend, though I might start a few seeds off if I can be bothered clearing a path to the shed to retrieve the compost.

    1. I need to go out & buy some pots as I have run out, though the weather is still bad here. I have brought a bag of compost into the kitchen. I shall be potting up in the warmth today.

    1. My greenhouse seems very warm so the snow is helping in that respect. I hope the plants I have in the ground ar ok. I did have a lovely display of crocus in flower before the snow hit.

  7. Yes, we've snow here as well. I've just been taking photographs of my garden birds, too - this snow must be so miserable for them (as it is for us!) I miss my spring flowers; I can't see them at all.

    1. I know just a blanket of white. There have been a lot of birds in the garden so I have put extra food out for newcomers.

  8. I bet the slugs are still there in their hoardes. We had to decide whether or not to set out on holiday on Friday - we did and made it!
