New arrivals

I am currently babysitting the latest addition to my sisters family.
Mizi, I think that's how she spells it anyway. She wasn't meant to be picking her up for another two weeks & like a good newbie dog owner had booked holidays to help settle her in. Then she was asked to pick her up two weeks early. Muggins here has the option of working from home should she wish, I am now on baby sitting duties & the little horror above is peeking out from under my large sofa.

Actually, she is a lovely little thing but make no mistake it is harder looking after a puppy than a new born baby.

I am currently struggling in the garden, I picked up my new contact lenses Saturday afternoon. It is a new experience for me & was sent round the town for 45 minutes to see how I adapted to them. Even though the prescription needs to be changed in my right eye it didn't stop me from seeing & purchasing these
Charity shop bargains, ha poor Mike! Please excuse my dining room wall, Mike was of the opinion last year that we should knock through the wall between the dining room & sitting room. He then changed his mind after he knocked the plaster off in preparation. I also picked up these from  a new fabric shop Amanda's Fabrics. Unfortunately no website but it was super cheap I'm going back next week.
The spotty fabric in the background is for my skirt when the pattern arrives & it only cost £5 a metre!

Back to struggling in the garden, the gooseberries & red/white currents have been infested by gooseberry sawfly & I can't quite see properly to squish them with the contact lenses in. The lenses I have are trial ones but I'm going to phone later to see if my increased prescription ones have arrived. They are fine for watching TV and walking about but not for working or garden jobs.

Before I go I have another new arrival which happened to jump onto my debit card whilst in Hobbycraft yesterday, I was supposed to be in the sports shop!
I even managed to sneak them in past Mike! Enjoy your day xx

  1. Hope you're getting on better today with your new contacts. Well done on the purchases and for getting them past Mike. I have been using the Sublime wool on a project. It's lovely wool to work with.

    1. Haven't got them in today as I'm working & can't see the screen properly in them until they sort out the prescription. The Sublime wool is lovely isn't it, so soft but expensive. It is £6 a ball in Hobbycraft but buy three get one free. I like the word free, I always fall for it.

  2. I see that the spending ban is well and truly off then!!! Love your fabric choices, and I look forward to seeing what they turn into - and the yarn too! Hope that you can get the sawfly sorted out, I wish that the unhelpful insects would stay away, but it is fact of life isn't it, not what you need though. Hope that the puppy sitting goes OK! xx

    1. Oh yes Amy, well & truly over. I do tell Mike that I need to have a lot of wool & fabric in stock as it saves money in the long run. Not that he believes me or me myself come to that.

  3. Awww, Mizi is gorgeous. Doesn't it make you want one of your own? Love your new purchases, especially the yarn, I shall look forward to seeing what you turn it in to.

    1. Lovely isn't she! We were meant to have one of her brothers funnily enough but Mike refused point blank. The only reason he got away with it is because I really want a pug. I'm hoping to try a bit of fair isle with it & planning to buy a bit more next week.

    1. I want a pug fingers crosses I will get one next year. I can't hide books I'm sure the postman keeps my parcels until he knows Mike is in. I won't be able to sneak a pug past I know that. The lenses are great so far unless I am staring at a screen or trying to see some bugs.

  8. Mizi looks like a little bundle of fun. I've long worn glasses and never could get used to contact lenses. Flighty xx

    1. She is fun even though she is hard work, I was glad when I handed her back before. I have worn glasses for over 30 years & tried contacts once before, so far things are looking good & will be even more so when they get the prescription right.

  10. I don’t envy anyone going through housebreaking puppy stage. I agree with you, they are more difficult than a new born baby as babies have diapers.

    1. Do you know if people who wanted a puppy had this one for a day I'm sure they would think twice.

  11. Good luck with the puppy. At least you know it's only a couple of weeks. I remember what a shock it was when we got Lottie. She chewed everything, including 2 phones and the TV remote :(

    1. Thanks I'm going to need it as adorable as she is she is hard work. I think everything that has made it near her mouth today was chewed.

    1. I wish this puppy would keep still, I had her sat on my knee to keep her entertained earlier on & she kept on trying to chew the corner of my lap top.

  13. Such a cute little dog - what breed is she? You may have to keep her if she bonds with you.

When I first tried contact lenses I was sent for a walk too - very embarrassing as I looked as though I was crying. The ones I got - years ago - were of the type where you had to build up wearing time gradually. Things have moved on since then

    1. She is beautiful, she is a Shih tzu & no I won't be, three days this week & three fays next. Mike is pretending he doesn't like her but she really is adorable but incredibly hard work. I tried them about 11 years ago but didn't stick with them after the first day.

  14. Mitzi, what a cute name for such a sweet bundle of gorgeousness, glad you have hard floors though, puppies are hard work (I have a weakness for Chihuahuas). Beautiful wool xx

  16. Your finds are awesome....I love them! And look at that pup! I would agree that they are hard to look after but their cuteness makes up for it! Good luck with those pests in the garden...my garden is just waking up and already I am working on keeping the pests away! If it's not one thing it's another! Wishing you a great week friend! 17. Ah, little Mizi is so cute and cuddly - worth all the trouble eventually, once the house training period is over, haha!!!
So, new fabric and new yarn, Jo, well done, and I do wish you the best with the contacts - I tried them several times over the years but just couldn't get away with them at all, so it's full-time specs for me! Joy x
