A post by Rocky Hound

Hello - wags tail furiously!! Well I would if I had one but I don't remember if I was born with one or if it was chopped off. I didn't have a very good start in life when I was a little tiny puppy I was very badly treated by my owners & a nice man rescued me I lived with him until he died. The man was my new dads dad so I knew my new family very well

I came to live with my mum, dad & two brothers where I now live the life of Riley. I don't know who Riley was but I like his life.

I'm allowed to do my own post because my mum isn't very well, there isn't anything wrong with her as such but she has a sore swollen face quite possibly to do with a bad reaction to opening a jar of roasted peppers. More than likely it was to some new cream. She is resting by working from home & waiting for some new books to be delivered.

I am very fearful of my life with my mum buying things - my dad thinks the house will collapse one day!

Anyway I've wanted to do my own post for ages as my bloggy pal Ted does the occasional one. Ted runs a pigeon watching club for us hounds. I'm not allowed to bark at pigeons as my aunt thinks her dad came back as one & my mum mutters 'poor deluded creature' under her breath. I'm allowed to bark at starlings though or I am until my mum catches me & shouts.

Here is a pesky starling
Here are a lot more
They are very noisy & pesky especially when I'm guarding against snails

I'm very much looking forward to the summer as I like the sunshine though I don't get much of it in Wales & I like to follow it round until there is enough to warm my bones.

My hobbies are -

Snoozing
Walks
Eating
Licking the sofas

My ambitions are -

To eat a squirrel
To eat a cat

Simple pleasures you see

Well I hope you are all well I must get back to my sleep because it is very tiring living Riley's life you know.

Best regards Rocky Hound Esquire

  1. Well hello Rocky Hound. Riley and you are very lucky because you have the best life. If you like, I can grant one of your wishes. Come to my house, wait in my garden and please catch NDFC and eat it. You can then bark at as many starlings as you want!

You are quite a clever pooch. Great sentence structure and punctuation!
Tell your Mum to get well soon

  11. Hi Rocky, this is Fergus from Canada. Your ambition list and mine are the same. I don't understand why my person doesn't let me attack those nasty squirrels that are on our back porch every single day. And as for cats, ugh. I have to share my space with one of them. I'm sort of jealous that you got to write your own blog post. My person used to let me do a Fergus On Friday post, but she hasn't asked me to write for a long time.

  12. Hi Rocky, so nice to finally meet you properly :) You're a handsome chap and a lucky dog to be living with such a loving family, all dogs and pets deserve that :-) I had good fun reading this post out to Barry (a fellow JRT with stumpy tail) and he sends you friendly woofs and licks, while cowering behind mummy because he's still a bit shy around other dogs! x Em and Barry x

  13. Hi Rocky, it sounds like you have a fine situation going on there. My situation is quite similar – bad start but now in luxury. I love chasing squirrels and one day I will catch one. I will. Although my mum gets a bit fed up with me trying to climb trees. I live with two cats and I am not allowed to even think about chasing them (although, one day...). Hope your mum is ok and better very soon. Best woofs, Cassie

  16. You sound like a very happy dog Rocky! I am glad that you have such a good home where you are loved and can do starling watching when you can. I cannot help you with eating a cat - and they are fluffy you know! - but I could help out with the squirrels if you could actually manage to catch one I have lots in my garden. Look after your Mum and make sure that she gets better soon, hug her lots and help her with some relaxing crafting. Tell her to look after herself! xx

You're right, the simple pleasures are the best. So glad you have a lovely home now after a horrible start. I'd like to have a dog like you one day you know. 23. I once had a tail but now it is gone. Last week it exploded and me mum, Auntie Sue and uncle Martyn took me to the animal doctors. I went to sleep and when I woke up my tail had disappeared, I can still wag it and I keep looking to see if it has come back but so far no luck. I wonder whether a tail theif has both of our tails. 3. I have a little stumpy tail left which I can wag but it's just not the same. I miss my tail but guess my folks did what was best for me.

Auntie Sue and Uncle Martyn say"Hi" They seem to manage OK without a tail.
