Meh

I'm having one of those weeks - perhaps the January blues is true - more likely the amount of people who have peeved me is to blame! I'm going for the last one.

MEH

1. Dipsticks who turned off a server in work last week & took 99% of my work with it, Little Miss sufficiently ranty pants ensured it was switched back on. The blame was apportioned to someone else - the mum stare soon stopped more lies!
2. I'm looking after my nephew this week, it is proving to be trying to say the least! His parents are having what they call 'a cheeky little get-away' I'm calling it 'a starting to take the **** now' especially as they have won a holiday & no doubt in their airy fairy world will expect me to help out again! Errm no.
3. My brother who has quite possibly peeved me off the most! Monday was my dads 1st death anniversary & my brother wanted to go out for lunch. As he is single I agreed as he doesn't have anyone to lean on -blah blah blah - deep down I'm a kind hearted person. He thought it was quite acceptable to go out at 1pm & while away the afternoon. I told him 11am as I had to be back for the boys. It got to 12:30 & repeated texts from me & then I cancelled it given it would take 40 minutes to get to the restaurant, lord knows how long for lunch & another 40 minutes to get back.
4. The 'rose-tinted glasses' postings from my siblings on facebook on my dads death day. God that site has a lot to answer for. Even Mike knew it was a load of 'claptrap' when he phoned me & slightly begged me not to respond.
5. I'm quite behind on commenting on your posts - apologies! I was rather good last week but I had taken a break from the housework you see to prove to Mike that we don't actually have a fairy to do it for us! I was proved correct as the house was a bit of a shambles & his brother wanted to visit. I said no & Mike couldn't think of a suitable reply. Needless to say he did a bit on Saturday :)

There are other minor peevements which  I think I am over now

Onto some pretties

I've joined up to The Lucy Boston Patchwork of Crosses Block of the month club because I wanted to. It's run by Sew & Quilt

I had by first delivery yesterday & have been busy cutting out some rather delicious Liberty fabrics!

It's my treat to me  because I deal with enough from my family, the one I was born into not Mike & the boys! I'm going to make myself some dripping with butter toast shortly too!

Mike bought me some tulips too

  1. It must be the weather, I was rather peeved yesterday - and Monday too - I think it is the rain, although I don't have the added difficulties that you have this week. I hope that things get better for you soon. The second to last photo made me smile! Hope you are smiling soon too! xx

  3. You have a good rant girl - get it off your chest. Then find more treats for yourself - that's what I'm doing to get over my out-of-sorts mood.

  4. Blimey, with the week you've had it's a wonder you're still sane! You definitely need some 'me' time, and a hug or two.

  5. There are times when you have to get the soap box out, climb aboard and RANT. Then take a space to do exactly what you want to do for YOU. It is amazing how that makes folk stop and think a bit. No is a powerful word, I do not use it often so when I do it causes alarm bells to go off. I like to help out but no body takes the ****, I will not have it. I am now off to look at that BOM club/

  6. Phew I am so glad it is not just me who feels blah! It is good not to feel alone when a rant is surfacing. Still some great pretties to enjoy. Personally, I feel like eating butter toast with chocolate sprinkles (not sure about the dripping?). Hope the rest of the week shapes up to be grand. x

  7. Sorry you're not having a great week Jo :( I hope family and things didn't get too on top of you given it was your Dad's death anniversary (thinking of you). Facebook is the bane of my life, I loath it most of the time and my family are the ones that make me hate it! The tulips look beautiful though, very thoughtful of Mike. Hope the rest of the week is a little better. Em xx

  9. Hey Jo,
Oooh I love a good peevy rant!. Sometimes you just have to get it all of your chest don't you. And I completely understand the joy of being peeved off by relatives. That's a daily struggle for me at the moment!
Here's hoping that your week gets better. The weather doesn't help, so let's hope for a bit of a break with that too.

  11. I hope that you have a better week. One of the benefits of blogging is that you can get things off your chest without actually coming to blows with those who have peeved you. A safety valve for the pressure cooker of emotion.

  15. There are definitely weeks when everything gets on top of you, I hope this is a better one for you. I didn't realise it was the anniversary of your dad's passing, it doesn't seem very long ago, just goes to show how quickly the years are passing by. Sending you lots of hugs. I've decided to do the Joyful World Stitch Along, are you going to do it too?

  21. Family can be a complete pain in the backside sometimes. Hope you can put it all behind you and enjoy your pretties. I don't think your OH is alone in believing in housework fairies and love that you went on strike to prove they don't exist. xx

  22. I so get the January thing...such a cold month here and miss getting outside...beans are sick and I'm tired! Ha! So needless to say your pretties were very much so appreciated!! Gorgeous work friend! Nicole xo

  23. It's good to have a good old rant and rave at times, so well done and hope that you now feel better. January is nearly over and before you know, it will be Spring. We can't do much about our families, but take it one day at a time. Take care.

  24. I hope your rant has done its job, sometimes all these things come at once don't they just to try us. It was a full moon at the weekend and if you believe in such things it can sent us off in the wrong direction I fear! Hope you make it to the end of this week in one piece and enjoy your weekend. :)

  25. Siblings. Don't get me started.

And if they've won a holiday, why can't the single brother look after the nephew?

  26. I think it's the end of January blues, we have removed our rose tinted glasses, and can smell bullsh*t coming our way. Lovely flowers and Oh on your lovely materials.

  27. I don't get the January blues thankfully. My hubby thinks there exists a house fairy which magically does work around the house. I'd love to strike for a week and see what happens-he'd have a breakdown as he can barely cope with the little bit he does....my major peeve...there...rant over!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I often have'peevs', I never have anyone to share then with either but I am glad you got them off your chest and that we could help out by listening. Hope you're feeling a little better now.

  31. I am so glad you are honest, because honesty is the best with friendships even if your are a world away. So sorry about your week, siblings!!!!!! And I have to add I am not a fan of Facebook, it is so untrue, all of it. It makes me feel everyone is out there having a great time and I am home cleaning and working.
Hugs to you and hope you have a peaceful weekend,

  32. It's good to let it all out :) I sometimes write in a journal to let my anger explode in the pages and then I can quietly rest it all on a shelf in my closet. My siblings get the better of me sometimes too, and they are the biggest reason I am not on Facebook anymore. You're good ... you make anger funny! I'm always catching up with everyone and apologize for not replying to your comment of a while ago. I've caught up with you now and have read all the posts back to Rocky Hound Esquire's guest post. He has the same sense of humour as his mum. I hope your nephew's visit isn't too strenuous, and hopefully Rocky can help keep him amused? Don't know if we're talking a baby or a teen or what. Mike is a great guy to bring you a beautiful bunch of sideways tulips when you're having a crap week. Have a great weekend Jo.
