Blueberries and such

I cant remember if I told you all about my new blueberries. I only had the one plant left after two others had died and was pondering if I should bother replacing them or not.

A visit to a garden centre saw four new plants in the trolley. Though in my defence one is a pink blueberry and the other three were a pack of three. All nicely planted in colourful tubs.  I walked out with a dress too (paid for thank you) and several other plants which really had no business to be in my trolley. We had only gone for a scone and a pot of tea.

I seem to be on my own. Mike is working away, Rob is out and Harry is hanging out somewhere with some friends. I do have a Rocky hound with his chin on my feet.

Harry is sweet on a girl a the moment and it's her birthday on Saturday.
"Would you order me a bobalvet please for a birthday present'?
"You want a what boy"?
"A bobfet toy, type Amazon into the search bar and type in bobalpet'
All this via a long phone call early on, the poor child was nearly hissing the individual letters down the phone because I couldn't find what he wanted or understand what he was saying.

Anyway it turned out to be this hideous thing, for a fourteen year old girl too! The green one Boba Fett

Don't forget you lovely crafty types The Santa Sack Swap sign up ends on the 10th June. Do pop over and check it out.

  2. I think you did the right thing getting all those blueberries, you can never have too many in my opinion. You're never lonely when there's a dog in the house, are you? I think they're such good company, especially when you're home alone. Good grief, I've never heard of those before, funny the crazes and fads they go though, let's hope this Boba Fett does the trick.

  3. I would have to put the pink blueberry in the pink pot so I didn't get muddled up. I wonder who thinks up these Star Wars names and how do they know when they've chosen the right one? x

  4. Oooh, pink blueberries, exciting!

I once went to visit a young chap who had a lifesize cut out of Boba Fett in his bathroom. I nearly jumped out of my skin the first time I saw it.

  5. A pink blueberry you say, I don't have one of those... You won't regret buying more blueberries, I love mine, they're always so pretty. One of mine looks like it will have a bumper crop this year, the others less so. The bob thing is hideous indeed, but no doubt it is exactly the way to a girl's heart. I hope it is well received. 6. Well I am certain that the choice of gift would not be mine, but hey ho! The follies of youth and all that. I think your blueberries would suit me far more! Hope that they do well for you and that you are enjoying your time alone too!

  7. Oh, blueberries. As Jo says, you can't have too many, though my two large bushes, see me selling them to our local greengrocer, giving them away and freezing them. I've still got enough left for my porridge a couple of times a week and in baking, till they start fruiting again. We had LOADS!!!
Think I've seen the pink one advertised in British garden magazines and sounds a little different, although the taste is probably the same. Take care.

  12. The things we do for our children :) I know that feeling too when you go into a garden centre and you come out laden. How does it happen! Enjoy the rest of your week. B x

  13. I am thinking that a blueberry should make an appearance in my garden as other bloggers seem to all have them, I am so last year. But I do know who Boba Fett is!

  14. We buy loads of blueberries so I'm trying to grow our own. We now have a total of two plants, in pots as the soil here is so poor, but only one has flowered. If all goes well, we should be harvesting eight blueberries! Hope the gift is well received by the birthday girl.

  15. I would love to grow blueberries, they would be picked clean within minutes as the grandchildren love them. Another thing on my 'when we move' list.

  16. I have a pink Blueberry too. It was a freebie in some magazine or other. Last year it produced about 3 berries, and this year doesn't look much better. It will have to pull its socks up if it is to justify a space in my small garden! Maybe it's pining for a prettier pot...!

  17. Good luck with the new blueberries - I have one plant left, all the others have died off, one by one. The fruit this remaining one produces is tiny whereas I get a good haul from my honeyberry plants. All are in pots so I'm tempted to plant the blueberry in the ground and leave it to its own devices. 20. I was very interested in this post as I've been thinking lately about buying a blueberry to grow in a pot. I've got some ericaceous compost - just got to buy the plant. A pink bluberry sounds lovely.
